چکیده

For iterative detection in systems employing multiple antennas with an outer code we need a MIMO detector delivering a-posteriori probabilities (APP) about the coded bits. Full-APP detection would lead to prohibitive complexity, therefore we extend for high-level signals the concept of the sphere decoder using an approach from sequential decoding instead of geometrical considerations. We show how a priori information can be incorporated into the metric, which is then optimized by systematic tree search. Furthermore, we show how the reliability of the resulting L-values can be improved by augmenting the complete search tree. Simulation results show an improved performance over the list sphere decoder.

Turbo Detection for MIMO Systems Using a List-Sequential Detector: Improved Soft Output by Path Augmentation

Bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative detection for MIMO systems demands an efficient APP detector that delivers soft information about the coded bits. The list-sequential detector is a reduced-complexity approximation to an exhaustive APP detector. It uses a tree search employing the stack algorithm to find dominant terms of the log-likelihood ratio (LLR). We show how incomplete tree...

A List Based Detection Technique for MIMO Systems 15

It is well known that multiple transmit and receive antennas can significantly increase the data carrying capacity of wireless systems (1) (3). Usually a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system requires a channel code to approach capacity (4). However, for such MIMO systems, the optimal joint maximum-likelihood (ML) detection using exhaustive search is too complex and is almost impossible....

Sequential Decoding for Mobile Receivers

Currently many classical detection and decoding algorithms receive new attention in mobile communications. Amongst those classics are low density parity check codes [1], concatenated codes [2], weighted decoding with log-likelihood values as well as soft-in/soft-out decoding as performed by the BCJR algorithm and its derivatives [4], [5]. All four classics show up as key elements in the so-call...

Iterative detection of generalized coded MIMO signals using a widely linear detector

We investigate an iterative receiver with a linear detector for complex symbols to suppress the co-antenna interference introduced by a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel. For generalized MIMO systems, i.e., systems that transmit besides the pure data also complex conjugate repetitions, we show that the standard linear detector has to be replaced by a widely linear (WL) detector. The...
